About Lora

It all started when…

Lora is a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. She and her husband have owned and operated a local retail business, Olde Oak Tree Furniture + Design, since 2001 and have four adult children (all married), and five grand children. She spent 26 years raising her family, including 16 years as a home school teacher. The years when her children were young and at home were the most precious years of her life, and she remembers well the emotions, vulnerability, joy and challenges of having babies and raising a family. Lora’s professional background is in administration for legal and corporate offices and a dance ministry, a wedding coordinator, and starting a local candy market business.

As her youngest went off to college, she found her Empty Nest Career in doula studies as an outlet for caregiving of others, as well as staying informed while helping her own children and grandchildren through a complex and confusing medical/maternity care system. That’s what she has continued to do for nearly 75 families. As an active member of a birth team, Lora helps her clients to be in charge of their birth and facilitates positive, satisfying, and redemptive experiences that puts them in control of their health status and outcomes.
